Calgon Carbon to Provide Reactivation Services to Arizona

Calgon Carbon has been selected to negotiate a contract to provide reactivation services for a ten-year period to the US city of Phoenix, along with the construction of a reactivation facility in Maricopa County.

The reactivation facility, to be owned and operated by Calgon Carbon, will provide custom reactivation services for other municipalities, including two additional cities in Arizona, that use granular activated carbon to treat their drinking water.

Calgon Carbon will use its existing reactivation capacity to meet Phoenix’s requirements.

In 2009, the company also received a $14.3m contract from Phoenix to provide the initial virgin carbon for its drinking water plants.
