ITF to fund produced water management solutions in the Middle East

Global technology facilitator ITF has issued a call for proposals to tackle the challenges of managing produced water in the Middle East oil and gas industry, and has pledged to provide 100% funding for successful projects.

Owing to the scarcity of water in the Gulf region, ITF said it is imperative for oil companies to safely dispose secondary water left over from their production.

The firm has identified certain challenges in this area which include treating produced water with back-produced polymer in polymer flood projects, and treatment of water for re-injection and other applications.

ITF’s regional director in the Middle East and Asia Pacific Ryan McPherson said, "There is a clear need for new technologies to provide a definitive solution to the problem and we hope to bring innovative technologies to market by acting as the honest broker between our operator and service company members and technology developers."

Proposals to tackle water management in the region should be submitted by 18th June 2012 and evaluation and selection is expected to be completed by September 2012.
