Egypt Completes Canal Project

Egypt has completed a canal project worth $100m to bring water from the River Nile to the Toshka desert, converting arid areas into farmland.

The project, which includes the construction of a canal system and three irrigation stations, was funded by the United Arab Emirates.

The irrigation project also includes the construction of three pumping stations with a capacity to pump 100m³ per second.

The canal will provide water to 100,000 acres within the integrated irrigation system in a 24km area, according to wam.org.ae.
