Northern Ireland Water to start preliminary bidding process for water and sewerage contract

13 February 2013

Northern Ireland (NI) Water, a water and sewerage services provider in Northern Ireland, UK, has announced it will hold an information day for bidders for its water and sewerage network service contract.

On Thursday, 28 February 2013, NI will hold the day-long event at the Antrim Training Centre, to provide all relevant information related to the GBP100m ($155.9m) contract to all the companies interested in bidding for it.

Northern Ireland Water Customer Service Delivery director Sara Venning said the company is looking for a bidder who can focus on cost efficiency, as well as consider the customers' needs.

"The winning bidder of the contract will provide a range of water and sewerage services, including sewer and watermain repairs and maintenance; clearing of sewer blockages; leakage repairs and minor water and sewerage infrastructure improvements," Venning added.

During the event, companies can learn more about the scope of work under the contract and can meet the company's staff involved in the procurement process of the contract.

Representatives from the participating companies can also meet those who manage the current contract.

Information day organiser and senior category manager Lewis Murray said, "The information day is an ideal opportunity for companies to come along and see what is involved in applying for and managing such a large scale contract."

The day will also consist of presentations from the NI Water team who manage the contract and those who will be managing the tender process.
