Water-Gen to explore market for water technology solutions in India

Israel based water purification company Water-Gen is in talks with Blue Star for a potential tie-up to enter the Indian market.

Water-Gen founder, president and co-chief executive officer Arye Kohavi was cited by Deccan Herald as saying: "We would like to bring to India, our technological prowess in atmospheric water generation, portable battery-operated water purification system, and water treatment of air conditioner run-off waste."

The company has been discussing opportunities with domestic manufacturers producing air conditioner, home appliances and water purifying systems.

Water-Gen intends to invest in research and development (R&D) activities to produce components or equipment that are in local demand.

The firm had been negotiating deals with Japanese and South Korean companies as well for better access into the Asian markets.

According to Arye Kohavi, exploration of options in India is chiefly directed for export purposes.

The firm has received open invitation from the state government in Gujarat for possible investment opportunities.

Arye Kohavi said: "We are ready to go forward with our investment plans in Gujarat as we find a vibrant industrial climate there with the presence of lots of partner companies."
