Austria-based plant engineering specialist ANDRITZ is pleased to announce that the company has received an order from CONCORD for Engineering and Contracting, Cairo, Egypt, for the provision of 17 vertical line shaft pumps and associated spare parts.
The equipment is slated to be used for a pumping station providing the water supply to the Nubaria irrigation canal, located south of the city of Alexandria. Start-up is scheduled for 2018.
The pumps supplied will be individually adapted to the customer’s specifications and achieve an aggregate flow rate of 11.7m3 per second.
Each pump achieves a head of 28m at a shaft power of 222kW.
Decisive in award of the contract to ANDRITZ were the special technical features and the low lifecycle costs of the ANDRITZ pumps, as well as the many years of experience that ANDRITZ has in this sector, with numerous references in the Middle East and Africa.
ANDRITZ first supplied irrigation pumps and equipment to these regions back in the 1960s.
