Watson-Marlow Pumps Group has opened two new offices, in Zurich and Mexico City.
The group can now offer Swiss customers direct shipment from its UK plant in Falmouth, saving 20% on transport costs and seven days of delivery time. Swiss orders ship on next-day-delivery terms.
Newly appointed sales engineer Walter Burger heads the Swiss operation, which is set to become another European success story.
“We’re delighted to have Walter on board looking after our Swiss contacts,” said Klaus Heinrich, country manager for Switzerland and Germany.
“Walter brings with him a raft of engineering and technical sales experience. We have worked with two distributors for our Swiss customers – Rotoconsulta and Skan – for a number of years. Being able to offer a direct service for industrial and process application distribution is a milestone we’re extremely proud to have reached.
“We will retain the distribution services of Skan for the laboratory sector.”
Watson-Marlow’s sales division in Mexico, operational from 1 April, will be working to satisfy strong customer demand for its innovative pump products, particularly in the mining sector. The new operation, Watson-Marlow S de RL de CV, is under the management of Latin America’s sales manager Rolando Sanchez. Guillermo Tellez has been appointed sales manager for Mexico.
The team will oversee the transition of operations from Watson-Marlow Inc in the US, solidifying the company’s commitment to the Central American region by providing its customers with the best in local knowledge, services and products.
Watson-Marlow S de RL de CV is based in the offices of sister company Spirax Sarco Mexicana in Mexico City. Plans for a local assembly plant are currently in place, but Watson-Marlow S de RL de CV will initially purchase all group products from Watson-Marlow Inc and the European factories.
Mr Sanchez said: “Our attentiveness to the needs of local markets and product innovation continues to sustain Watson-Marlow’s reputation as the leading manufacturer of the world’s fastest-growing pump type. The vast opportunities to grow market share through geographic expansion paints a bright future for the Watson-Marlow Pumps Group.”
The two new sales offices in Switzerland and Mexico follow the opening of the Watson-Marlow Pumps Group office in Russia last year. The new Russian facility this month announced a new addition to its team: sales manager and mechanical engineering expert Vadim Sidorenko will be working to develop the company’s presence in Russia and strengthen its contacts in the country.
