The efficiency rate of a particular powder bed additive manufacturing process, as well as overall component quality, is often dependent on the packing density and flow behaviour of the metal powder particles involved.
Particle size and shape directly influences these properties, and hence are important quality parameters for assessing and grading powders for use in the process.
In this webinar Dr Paul Kippax will discuss the importance of particle size and shape in terms of packing behavior and processing and how these parameters can be measured using Laser Diffraction and Morphological Imaging respectively.

About the speaker
Paul Kippax is Product Group Manager for Micrometrics. A chemist and colloid scientist by background, he first joined Malvern Instruments over 18 years ago as a technical specialist working in the field of acoustics.
In 2002 he moved into product management where he used his experienced gained working the pharmaceutical industry to guide the development of the Spraytec and Mastersizer 3000 platforms.
He now heads up the team responsible for Malvern’s laser diffraction and imaging product ranges. Paul holds a degree in Chemistry and a PhD in Physical Chemistry.
