CSO Technik are nearing completion and hand-over of the largest Terminodour system in the world at Fleetwood WwTW for United Utilities. Terminodour has been installed on many UU sites and is used primarily because of its effectiveness and low carbon footprint compared with more conventional odour abatement systems.
CSO were awarded the contract in May 2009 by KMI Plus.
Terminodour effectively neutralises odour in situ by supplying ionised air into the building where it reacts and oxidises odours. Because the system is not working against a closed head the pressure drop is minimal and therefore fan motor sizes are significantly reduced, providing big savings in energy costs. Terminodour uses no water, chemical or media, which minimises capital and operational costs in dealing with spent media or consumables.
There are two Terminodour systems at Fleetwood; the main sludge treatment building has a volume of nearly 16,500m³. Terminodour is also providing odour control to the sludge cake building as well.
Due to the coastal nature of the plant the Terminodour air handling unit (AHU) and external ducting is all manufactured in stainless steel but the internal ductwork is galvanised mild steel. Salt and sand filters are part and parcel of the Terminodour AHU.
The Terminodour system is controlled and monitored by an HMI PLC (Siemens S7) based panel also designed and supplied by CSO Technik.
CSO Technik are world leaders in the field of ionisation process technology and have an unrivalled UK and overseas reference list backed by hard third-party performance data. As on Fleetwood CSO Technik are more than happy to enter into performance guarantees for the Terminodour system. Contact CSO Technik for more information.
