New Jersey American Water begins water main replacement in two counties

New Jersey American Water has commenced water main replacement work in Burlington and Camden counties.

The replacement work is expected to improve service reliability and prevent water outages. Costing over $4.2m, the project will see replacement of aging pipes dating back to the 1900s.

New Jersey American Water  South Operations senior director  said: “New Jersey American Water places a high value on our proactive replacement program, as it helps us improve water quality and service and makes our systems more resilient to potential disruptions in the future.

“These projects within Burlington and Camden counties are a continuation of the critical investment for the company to provide our customers with safe, reliable water service.”

New Jersey American Water has appointed Pioneer Pipe Contractors to carry out the work in the towns of Cherry Hill, Cinnaminson, Haddon Heights, Haddonfield, Palmyra, Lumberton and Somerdale.

South State has been contracted to perform the replacement work in Gloucester Township.

A unit of American Water, New Jersey American Water provides water and wastewater services to around 2.7 million people in the US state.

American Water employs 6,800 people. It provides drinking water, wastewater and other related services to around 15 million people in 47 US states besides Ontario, Canada.
