ACCIONA Agua receives contract for two wastewater treatment plants in Turkey

Spain-based company ACCIONA Agua has received contracts worth €25.5m to design, construct and start two new wastewater treatment plants at Kutahya and Aksehir in Turkey.

The deal has been awarded by the City Council of Foça to a joint venture of ACCIONA Agua with a Turkish company Arbiogaz.

The wastewater treatment plant at Kutahya will have a daily treatment capacity of 100,000m³.

In a second phase, the plant will have a capacity of over 120,000m³ each day.

The contract will also include the demolition of the old facility.

The plant will be able to serve a population of 450,000 in the Aegean region, located to the west of Turkey.

The project is being funded by the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) of the European Union through the Turkish Ministry for the Environment.

The budget for this project is €15.1m and the completion of the construction work is slated to be in approximately two years.

The Aksehir plant in the Konya province in south-east Turkey will be completed in two phases and involves a budget of €10.4m.

Under the first phase, engineering, design and construction of the wastewater treatment plant will be taken up.

This facility will have a daily capacity of about 15,000m³.

The plant will serve a population of approximately 65,000.

The second phase will increase the capacity of the plant by up to 18,000m³ per day to serve about 80,000 people.

This phase will also see construction and rehabilitation of about 36kms of wastewater piping.
