Suez Environnement opens Smart Operation Centre in France

Suez Environnement has inaugurated a Smart Operation Centre in Le Pecq commune in Yvelines department in northern France to support the local authorities improve their water and sanitation services.

The centre, which is the first of its kind in Europe, will facilitate monitoring of the infrastructures of remote meter reading networks (for water, gas, etc.) and Smart Water Solutions on a global scale, the French utility said.

Suez Environnement added that the centre will monitor the Smart Water solutions to ensure their proper functioning, since those are based on the infrastructures for IT and telecommunications (software, servers, user portals, etc.)

The facility developed by the French utility can ensure reliable operation of the local water infrastructure, by providing real-time information to the authorities and water operators.

The up-to-date information obtained through the facility will be able to alert the concerned authorities about the signs of incidents including leaks, meter failure, falling pressure levels.

Such early detection can send alert to the water services managers and prompt them for timely response to solve the issues.

The facility is also directly connected to the regional data centres.

It can thus protect the data used by those centres to improve the works operations (networks and plants) over given areas and plan the necessary involvement to ensure proper functioning of the water cycle (production, distribution, sanitation).
