TE Connectivity selects Process and Water for wastewater recycling system

TE Connectivity has chosen US purification and fluid-handling systems firm Process and Water Company to supply an industrial wastewater recycle and reuse system to its facility in Norwood, Massachusetts, US.

Once the system is in place, TE Connectivity plans to recycle and reuse up to 80% of the water currently used in the facility’s industrial processes.

The recycling system will help in lowering water usage costs and reduce the TE plant’s energy costs and sewer discharge fees.

The customised system, which is designed by using next-generation reverse osmosis (RO) membrane technologies, uses programme logic controls allowing remote monitoring and control.

More efficient than traditional RO systems, the system operates at much lower water pressures, consumes less energy, and requires less capital-intensive equipment such as high-end pumps.

An advanced membrane substrate of the system acts on RO membrane fouling that develops due to salts in process wastewaters and reduces its impact, while its large feed flow passage minimises membrane pressure changes, thereby safeguarding from premature membrane failures.

According to Process and Water, process downtime can also be brought down through an automatic cleaning process using an onboard RO membrane cleaning-in-place (CIP) system.

Process and Water CEO Tom Belmont said that the company’s design/build team brought together leading-edge RO technologies with automated system monitoring and maintenance to meet TE’s unique requirements for the system.
