World Bank to Fund Azerbaijan Irrigation Project

The World Bank Group is evaluating a proposal to extend $80m in credit to Azerbaijan to carry out a new irrigation project, replacing the Irrigation Distribution System and Management Improvement Project.

The new project will restore and repair irrigation systems in 22 regions, covering 100,000 hectares.

Under the project, water user associations will be given assistance in 11 regions, according to abc.az.

The total project will cost $150m, out of which the Azerbaijani Government will provide $70m.
