Parsons Awarded $128m Construction Management Contract

Parsons has received a construction management services contract from Orange County Water District for the initial expansion of a groundwater replenishment system in Fountain Valley, California, US.

Under the $128m contract, Parsons will provide all construction management services, including document control, field engineering, inspection and start-up / commissioning oversight.

On completion, the project will increase the treatment capacity of the groundwater replenishment system by 31,000 acre-feet per year, bringing the total annual capacity of the system to 103,000 acre-feet.

The groundwater replenishment system takes highly treated wastewater and purifies it through membrane filtration, reverse osmosis and advanced oxidation using ultraviolet light and hydrogen peroxide.

The treated water will be percolated into Orange County Water District’s groundwater basin to supplement its drinking water supplies, and to increase the seawater intrusion barrier, which prevents seawater from contaminating the groundwater.

The work is scheduled to be complete in 2014.
