GE Unveils Portable Technology for Municipal Water Systems

GE has introduced a new portable technology to help municipal water system operators to closely monitor and protect drinking water supplies.

The Sievers 5310 C Portable Total Organic Carbon (TOC) Analyzer enables in-field, continuous monitoring of raw and finished water TOC levels for the optimisation of plant processes such as coagulant addition, finished drinking water monitoring for disinfection by-products control and distribution security monitoring.

TOC monitoring is required by the Environmental Protection Agency as part of the ‘Stage 1 Disinfectant / Disinfection By-products (DBP) Rule’, because DBP is formed through the interaction of TOC and a disinfectant in water.

The portable analyser uses Sievers Membrane Conductometric method to measure TOC.

The analyser can be used to run online in a municipal plant or with an autosampler in a laboratory.
