ADB Funds China’s Clean Water Supply Project

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is to provide $200m to the China Water Affairs Group (CWA) to improve the delivery of treated water in China.

The ADB’s funds will be used to set up sub-project companies to acquire, upgrade, expand and operate municipal water networks.

Households and businesses in second and third-tier urban centres will receive two million cubic metres of treated water per day by 2015.

CWA chairman Duan Chuan Liang said the cooperation with the ADB will accelerate CWA’s efforts to expand and improve water treatment and distribution services for society and shareholders.
