KWD to Upgrade US Water Treatment Plant

The Northern Kentucky Water District has received approval to upgrade the Taylor Mill water treatment plant in Kentucky, US.

The $28m project, which was approved by the Kentucky Public Service Commission (PSC), will allow the plant to comply with stricter federal drinking water standards.

The plant, which has a capacity to treat ten million gallons per day, will be modified to add a carbon filtration system.

The PSC ruled that the district had chosen a reasonable approach for complying with US Environmental Protection Agency requirements that limit levels of potentially hazardous chlorination by-products in drinking water.
