Lanxess unveils chemical water treatment plant in Germany

Lanxess has opened a new 4,000km² chemical plant, which will use membrane filtration technology to treat water at its Bitterfeld site in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany.

The €30m plant will include production facilities, laboratories, logistics areas and offices, and will allow the company to become a strategic service provider in the water treatment business.

The state of Saxony-Anhalt has provided €8m to support the construction of the facility and its related R&D activities.

Lanxess chairman of the board of management Axel Heitmann said that the new membrane filtration products, in combination with high-performance ion exchange resins, will help Lanxess to reduce global water problems.
