India Clears Sewerage Treatment Project

The Indian Ministry of Environment and Forests has cleared a proposal to lay sewerage disposal pipes and set up sewerage disposal plants in the state of Punjab, according to financialexpress.com.

The sewerage project, worth Rs4.7bn ($101m), will be implemented in eight towns in the state.

Out of the allocations made by the ministry, up to Rs2.8bn ($52m) will be spent on the town of Jalandhar.

The projects are being undertaken as a part of river conservation programme started by the Indian government.
