US County Commissions Water Treatment Projects

Washington County in Virginia, US, has commissioned two water treatment projects worth $31m.

The county will build a water treatment plant along the Middle Fork of the Holston River, which will cost $26m and is expected to eventually triple the county’s water treatment capacity.

Washington County also has plans to build a new water storage facility at a cost of $5m to hold extra water treated by the larger treatment plant.

By next year the new storage facility will hold 6.6 million gallons of water compared with the county’s current capacity of 4.6 million gallons a day.

The county plans to further expand the treatment capacity to 12 million gallons a day by 2012, according to tricities.com.
