Peru Launches $137m Water and Sanitation Project

The Peruvian Government has launched a $137m water and sanitation project, which will supply 24-hour drinking water to 11 cities and towns in the Cajamarca region.

The project includes the construction of four reservoirs of 4,800m³ and the construction and rehabilitation of another 21 reservoirs with a capacity of 2,050m³.

The contract was awarded to Peruvian companies Consorcio Saneamiento Cajamarca, BM3 Obras y Servicios and Cobra Instalaciones y Servicios, according to waterworld.com.

The project is jointly funded by Japan Bank for International Cooperation and the Peruvian regional government, with JBIC extending a loan of PEN148m ($51m).
