US State to Invest in Water and Sewer Projects

The US state of New Jersey plans to invest $821m through no-cost and low-cost loans in its water and sewer infrastructure to secure clean water across the state.

The loan will be provided through the New Jersey Environmental Infrastructure Financing Program, which will allocate $549m for clean water projects and $272m for drinking water projects.

Out of the total funding half will be borne by the US federal government, according to thegovmonitor.com.

The loan will be provided to local governments in the state for the construction of wastewater treatment facilities, sludge management systems, sewer overflow, stormwater projects and non-point source pollution management projects.
