Argentina to Float Tender for Water Project

Argentina’s Chaco province plans to launch a $60m tender to build the Castelli-Rio Bermejo potable water system before the end of 2010 to increase the water supply to the city of Juan Jose Castelli.

The project includes building a water intake on Bermejo River, a 3.7km pipeline to transport 260l per second of water and construction of a water plant capable of treating 1,000m³ per hour, as well as 80km of distribution networks.

The Inter American Development Bank (IDB) is expected to fund 80% of the project’s costs, valued at ARS235m ($59.5m).

The project will increase the water supply from the current 40-50% to 100% in the city and distribute water to 34,000 people, according to bnamericas.com.
