Australian State to Build New Desalination Plant

The Australian state of Western Australia will build a new seawater desalination plant to supply drinking water for the West Pilbara region.

The $370m plant will add an additional six billion litres of water a year to support residential and small commercial growth in the region.

The facility, to be built on the Burrup Peninsula, is expected be operational in three years.

State-owned Water Corporation will oversee the construction of the desalination project.
