Innovyze releases contamination threat identification tool

Innovyze has launched its InfoWater BackTrace eXtension (BTX) solution globally to identify contaminant injection locations and to provide complete event backtracking analysis.

The tool is expected to help water utilities to plan for and respond to contamination threats and incidents.

With the help of the new tool, water utilities will also be able to determine all possible contamination sources in space and time.

Innovyze president and COO Paul Boulos said the company created the new solution to be the simplest, fastest, powerful event backtracking tool in its industry.

"This is the ultimate approach to helping utilities plan effective responses to contamination threats and incidents," Boulos said.

InfoWater BTX runs in reverse time to compute input-output water quality characteristics for all flow paths between input sources and output nodes.

The complete input-output data for all paths between sources and output nodes will allow users to devise and implement response actions such as unidirectional flushing and operational changes to reduce the impact of a contamination event.

InfoWater BTX also offers color-coded mapping and VCR-style animation tools to help users visualise water quality propagation.
