Insituform wins sewer rehabilitation contract from Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts

Insituform Technologies, a subsidiary of Aegion, has won a contract from the Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts (LACSD).

Under the $10.7m valued contract, the company will install Insituform cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) in around 9,000ft of severely corroded reinforced concrete wastewater pipe ranging in diameter from 57in-66in.

The project includes pipeline rehabilitation in mostly industrial business areas in Torrance and Los Angeles.

Insituform, which acts as the general contractor, will be responsible for all aspects of the project including construction of junction structures and manholes, as well as other related infrastructure rehabilitation.

Insituform vice-president of North American rehabilitation west region Kenneth Foster said for more than 15 years, Insituform has worked for LACSD, completing an average of two to three projects each year.

"Installing Insituform CIPP will be challenging due to the need to remove contaminated debris present throughout the pipelines prior to installation of our CIPP technology," Foster said.

"Our experienced project management team and crews are prepared to meet the challenges of this project and we are confident in our ability to exceed the expectations of LACSD."

Work is expected to begin in January 2014, while the project is likely to be completed by September 2014.
