PAEW begins water projects in Al Wusta Governorate

The Public Authority for Electricity and Water (PAEW) has begun a number of water projects to enhance clean water supply in various wilayats, located in the governorate of Al Wusta, Oman.

The OMR60m ($156m) project will include the establishment and expansion of water distribution and transmission lines, pumping stations and other water projects, besides aiming to provide clean water to the people of the region.

PAEW’s ongoing projects in the governorate include a water supply project, fed by the desalination plant in Duqm with an estimated capacity of 6,000m³ a day.

The agency has completed two water networks in the wilayat of Al Jazir in Suqrah and Al Kuhil villages that include supply and installation of major pipelines to transport and distribute drinking water.

PAEW has also assigned the implementation of a third desalination plant in Al Najda village in the wilayat of Mahout, with works including the building of a desalination station and water tank, besides establishing a system to flush saltwater.

The desalination project also includes the drilling of six feeding wells and an addition of three desalination units with a capacity of 1,400m³ per day.

PAEW is also working on a number of water projects in Governorate of North Sharqiyah, and wilayat of Wadi Bani Khalid.
