Itron will supply its advanced water metering solutions to the city of Kalgoorlie in Australia.
The Water Corporation of Western Australia will install 13,500 Itron meters, network infrastructure and associated software as part of its project to manage the resources and provide greater control over water wastage in the city.
The company's smart metering infrastructure will use the fixed network collection technology to remotely collect readings.
The wireless communication modules will transmit enhanced metering data to collection devices installed in the field, which is then passed onto a centralised billing system.
With the use of these water metering solutions, the Water Corporation will have access to accurate and granular usage data, which can be analysed to help forecast and manage production capacity.
