Spanish firm Protesa has received a contract to supply and install glass fibre reinforced polyester (GRP) piping for the Sorek desalination plant in Israel.
The scope of the work will include the design, manufacture, installation and related engineering services for GRP piping and fittings.
The total length of the pipes will be 2,900m, in diameters ranging from 25 to 2,200mm.
The plant has a capacity of 510,000m3 a day and will use reverse osmosis technology.
The project is led by the Sorek Desalination partnership, formed by IDE Technologies and Hutchison Water International Holdings.
