US-based wireless broadband specialist Cambium Networks is pleased to announce a new range of networking systems that have been designed to meet the increasing demand for streaming video and high-throughput performance worldwide.
Ovum principal analyst Daryl Schoolar said: “Internet connectivity is essential for the modern household.
“Operators’ wireless access networks need to provide support for more than just a high-speed data connection. These networks need to support various consumer applications, with streaming video being at the forefront.”
Cambium Networks president and CEO Atul Bhatnagar added: “Cambium Networks continues to invest in developing connectivity solutions that extend and enrich the ‘wireless fabric’ network.
“Our latest developments provide affordable, reliable connectivity to extend connectivity to new areas and distribute signal to multiple locations, and also provide complete indoor and outdoor Wi-Fi access.”
Gigabit point-to-point (PTP) backhaul
With up to 1.36Gbit throughput capacity, the PTP 550 provides the capacity that network operators need to connect more subscribers and reach new market opportunities.
Cambium Networks senior vice-president of product management Scott Imhoff said: “The PTP 550 is a complete solution. Spectrum is a precious commodity and the non-adjacent asymmetric channel aggregation capabilities of the PTP 550 enable it to efficiently consolidate limited blocks of spectrum to deliver the capacity demanded by advanced network operators.
“LINKPlanner software provides free network planning solutions tailored to the exact source and destination points on a Google Earth map, and on-board dynamic spectrum optimisation enables the link to monitor performance in real-time and automatically make adjustments to maximise throughput.”
500Mbps point-to-multipoint (PMP) subscriber connectivity
The ePMP Force 300 provides up to 500Mbps headline data rate at an affordable price point.
The new 802.11ac wave2 subscriber module operates in the unlicensed 5.1GHz-5.9GHz frequency band and has a 25dBi reflector antenna to support long-range connectivity.
Cambium Networks vice-president ePMP business Sakid Ahmed noted: “With the Force 300, network operators can continue to benefit from the industry-proven ePMP platform and provide cost-effective, high-speed connectivity for various point to point applications and eventually as a subscriber unit for a point to multipoint network.
“With 1.3 million units shipped to date, the Force 300 continues the expansion of the ePMP portfolio and brings to the market the first 802.11AC Wave 2 product from ePMP.”
Reduce the time and cost of installation
With millions of modules deployed, Cambium Networks has incorporated input from field technicians to develop the cnArcher™ verification application.
Cambium Networks director of product management Matt Mangriotis said: “The cost of installing subscribers may be the most significant cost a service provider contends with.
“cnArcher is an easy-to-use smartphone app that will streamline the installation process, resulting in savings of both time and cost.
“It will eliminate errors to ensure that work is done right the first time and confirm installations while on site.”
Cambium Networks has recently conducted a survey of wireless ISPs (WISP) from around the world and will be publishing the first set of results at WISPAPALOOZA, the Wireless ISP Association’s premier North America event.
More than 500 WISPs participated in the survey, and Cambium Networks started sharing the results at the Open House held at the event.
