Select Energy Services starts construction of two water recycling facilities in Permian Basin

Select Energy Services, a US-based water management and chemical solutions provider, has commenced construction of two water recycling facilities in the Permian Basin.

It also announced a $3m strategic investment in Deep Imaging Technologies, which is a frac fluid tracking and imaging technology company.

Recently, Select was awarded two new produced water recycling facility contracts in the Permian Basin.

Following completion of the new produced water recycling facilities, Select will be able to tap its expertise in frac chemistry and fluid optimisation to offer customers with a steady water quality standard.

These projects will take Select’s  total centralised produced water recycling capacity in the basin  to approximately 250,000 barrels of water every day.

This will be supplemented by the firm’s mobile recycling technologies and capabilities, which currently supports almost 150,000 barrels of produced water every day.

Construction of the first facility has already started and will serve the Midland Basin in both Martin and Midland Counties of Texas.

Select intends to invest about $5m in this facility, which will become operational by the end of Q1 2021.

The facility is supported by a long-term contract with an independent operator in the Midland Basin for the purchase of the recycled produced water.

It will be able to recycle upto 50,000 barrels of water everyday, and have two million barrels of recycled water storage capacity.

Additional incremental capacity of the facility will be able to cater to the requirements of other operators in the basin

A centralised produced water recycling facility is also being developed at Loving County, Texas in the Delaware Basin. This facility will be able to recycle upto 30,000 barrels of produced water every day and have one million barrels of recycled water storage capacity.

This facility is expected to become fully operational by the end of Q1 2021.
