Verizon wireless network powers Capstone smart water management solution

Verizon Wireless has certified a cell module for Capstone Metering’s IntelliH2O intelligent water meter, a cloud-based water management solution that can be fully integrated with the collection of IntelliH2O meters.

Capstone’s IntelliH2O is a self-reliant, sensor-rich communications platform designed for a remote, distributed network. It incorporates an on/off valve that can be controlled by centralised analytical management software.

Verizon’s CDMA network enables connectivity through cellular capabilities in each water meter. Information about the usage of water can be accessed via the cloud from desktops, laptops and tablets.

Capstone Metering CEO Scott Williamson said that by adding cellular directly into the IntelliH2O meter, Capstone reduces both work and costs to support its wireless network.

"We provide power with our on-board generator and rechargeable battery to utilise cell communications with each meter," Williamson added.

Verizon Wireless Central Texas region director of business sales Leslie Hernandez said that the company’s award-winning network contines to innovate and meld great products and services.

"Smart technology is a driving force in water conservation. Working with Capstone, we will be able to leverage our wireless technology to help customers effectively manage water usage through the intelligent water meter system," she added.
