Sterling Water Develops Plug-and-Play Water Treatment Unit

Sterling Water is developing a new solar-powered system that could improve fresh water production in Qatar.

The company’s Waterpod technology will enable customers to purchase plug-and-play water treatment facilities.

The technology uses solar power, vacuums, atmospheric pressure and temperature differentials created in a 10m tower.

The Waterpod produces thermodynamic efficiency and minimal scaling rates, with water purity of 50 parts per million, significantly higher than international standards that require 500 parts per million, according to bernama.com.

The Qatar-based company said the entire plant, which includes a Waterpod tank and solar panels, is easy to install and does not require any significant expense on infrastructure.

The Waterpod is based on technology developed by New Mexico State University.
