Saur, Al Zamil to Start Saudi Arabian Water Management Contract

The Saur Group of France and Al Zamil Group Holding are to begin the management of the water networks of Mecca and Taif, Saudi Arabia, as part of the country’s efforts to better use its water resources.

Saudi Arabia’s National Water Company (NWC) awarded the $46.3m contract in July to the two companies to manage the water and wastewater networks of the two cities for five years.

The country is privatising its water industry in order to conserve resources and ensure a consistent supply of water to its growing population, according to Bloomberg.

The NWC will cover more than 46% of the country’s total water supplies.
