Indian State to Carry Out $1.5bn Water Projects

The Indian state of Gujarat has contracted India-based Jindal Group to carry out water projects worth Rs70bn ($1.5bn) in various districts of the state by 2030.

The projects will be carried out by Jindal’s JITF Water Infrastructure, JITF Urban Infrastructure and the Jindal Manila Water joint venture.

The projects include desalination plants, bulk water supply projects, municipal solid waste management and waste-to-energy projects.

The Jindal Manila joint venture is building a water supply and treatment system including a distribution network in areas including Anand and Nadiad.

JITF Water Infrastructure is constructing a Rs40bn ($867m) water distribution project for Gujarat Infrastructure Development Board (Industries & Mines).

Jindal Water Infrastructure also plans to start work on desalination projects at Dahej, according to businessstandard.com.
