Western Australia Awards Mundaring Water Treatment Contract

The state of Western Australia has awarded a contract to the Helena Water consortium to build and operate the new A$300m ($300m) Mundaring Water Treatment Plant.

Helena Water is a consortium comprising Brookfield Multiplex, Royal Bank of Scotland, Acciona Agua and United Utilities.

Under the contract, the consortium will fund and build the new plant, to be commissioned in 2013, and run it for 35 years before handing it over to the Water Corporation of Western Australia.

The plant will ensure quality water in the Water Corporation’s Goldfields pipeline.

The consortium will begin work on the plant in a few months’ time.
