Delhi Unveils $377m Water Investment Budget

Delhi Jal Board (DJB) of India has a budget of Rs17.16bn ($377m) to improve and modernise Delhi’s water distribution and sewerage network system for 2011-12.

DJB will use Rs9.25bn ($200m) for the water sector, including Rs5.5m ($120,000) for rainwater harvesting, Rs90m ($1.9m) for JJ clusters, Rs1.36bn ($29m) for water supplies to unauthorised colonies of the Indian capital and Rs7.91bn ($173m) on the sewerage sector, according to Tribune India.

The water network extension to authorised colonies will help prevent water leakages, provide full domestic metering, augment treatment capacity, implement SCADA and improve consumer convenience.
