Yorkshire Water to Spend £400m on Water and Sewer Projects

UK water utility Yorkshire Water is to spend £400m ($638m) on the development of water and sewer infrastructure projects by April 2012 as part of its five-year plan to deliver £1.9bn of improvements by 2015.

The firm has already spent £300m on significant infrastructure and maintenance work, with a number of major projects currently underway.

Yorkshire Water will invest £5m on improving the quality of drinking water in Bradford by upgrading the Chellow Heights and Graincliffe Water Treatment Works.

The firm will also invest £70m in upgrading the Blackburn Meadows Sewage Works in Sheffield as part of the Freshwater Fish Directive to improve the water quality of the River Don.
