Scottish Water Starts Equipment Testing at Treatment Plant

Water utility Scottish Water has begun testing equipment at its new £24m ($39m) water treatment plant in Aviemore, Scotland.

The plant will supply clearer, fresh drinking water to over 10,000 people in the Cairngorms National Park.

Scottish Water operations manager Simon Harrison said the plant will use boreholes to tap into an underground aquifer to provide a reliable water supply for the region.

“It also enables us to protect the sensitive environment of the Cairngorms,” he said. “It has been a major construction project for the Aviemore area, providing a real boost for the local economy.”

The firm has also installed a large storage tank to improve the ability of the plant to maintain supplies during emergencies.
