Augusto Velloso to Build Wastewater Treatment Plant in Brazil

Brazilian engineering firm Augusto Velloso will begin construction of a wastewater treatment plant in the city of Caieiras in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Work will start this month and be completed by July 2013.

Augusto will carry out the R$59.5m ($38.5m) project under phase III of the Sao Paulo Tiete River clean-up, which includes the installation of a 14.2km trunk pipeline, a 9km collector pipeline and a wastewater treatment plant.

The plant will also clean the Juquery River and will have a capacity to treat 200l of water per second.

The goal of the river clean-up is to increase wastewater collection and treatment rates in the Sao Paulo metropolitan region to 87% and 84%, respectively, reports bnamericas.com.
