Sionix to build WWTF in US Shale Formation

Sionix has executed an agreement with Dakota Solutions to lease property for the construction and operation of a wastewater treatment facility (WWTF) in the Bakken Shale Formation, North Dakota, US.

According to the agreement, Sionix will design, build, own and operate a WWTF on the property near Tioga.

The facility will be designed for the treatment of heavily contaminated production, flowback and frac water generated by the oil and gas drilling activities in the region. It will be equipped with mobile water treatment system products and underlying dissolved air flotation technology.

DSI will transport oil and gas drilling waste to the WWTF and treated water back to drillers to minimise the continued drawdown on threatened fresh water resources.

Sionix chairman and CEO James Currier said that the facility is expected to provide a critical resource for oil and gas drillers to treat and recycle contaminated production, flowback and frac wastewater without unnecessary stress on limited fresh water resources in the area.
