Bangladesh Water Project Gets Danish Funds

Denmark will provide €75m ($101.2m) to construct a water treatment plant in Dhaka, Bangladesh, in a bid to improve the water supply in the capital city.

The plant will have a production capacity of 225,000 cubic metres per day and will be built within three years by Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority.

The contractor for the project is expected to be appointed shortly.

MT Højgaard and Degremont JV will oversee design, construction and operation, while civil works supervision will be undertaken by Grontmij-Carl Bro.

The project, which is part of the partnership agreement between the two countries’ governments and five other development partners, aims to improve urban water supply and sanitation in Bangladesh, according to Bangladesh newspaper The New Nation.
