Liberia Receives $40m ADB Funding

Liberia has received funding from the African Development Bank to finance the rehabilitation of the country’s water and sanitation infrastructure.

The $40m grant will be used to increase safe and reliable water supplies as well as expand access to water and sanitation facilities in Monrovia and Buchanan in Grand Bassa County, Kakata in Margibi County, and Zwedru in Grand Gedeh County.

The funds will also be used for the rehabilitation of the White Plains Water Treatment Plant to increase its water supply capacity to Monrovia.

The plant currently supplies three million gallons per day and is expected to increase its capacity to 16 million gallons per day, according to liberianobserver.com.
