SNC-Lavalin Wins $98m Water Cooling Contract

Canada-based engineering and construction group SNC-Lavalin Construction has won a C$105m ($98m) contract from Saudi Tabreed to build water-cooling facilities in Dhahran, in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia.

The project includes construction of a 27,000 refrigerated tonnes district cooling plant and 14km of dual underground chilled water pipeline.

Construction of the main civil works is scheduled to start in the third quarter of 2010 and will be completed in 20 months.

Saudi Tabreed Cooling Company is a private sector, joint venture company with the UAE-based Tabreed.
