Netherlands to Use DHV’s Nereda in Wastewater System

The Netherlands has awarded a €15m ($18m) contract to replace the existing wastewater treatment plant at Epe, the Netherlands, with a new plant using DHV’s Nereda technology.

The design and build contract will replace the existing system with a Nereda plant, which will treat all wastewater produced in and around the town.

DHV’s Nereda technology has special microorganisms that do not grow in a flock but in concentrated, compact granules that can treat wastewater effectively with less energy and chemical consumption.

The new plant will double the treatment capacity without increasing the carbon footprint and will be operation in 2011.
