Consortium wins contract to build pumping station in Singapore

A joint venture between Koh Brothers Building & Civil Engineering and UES Holdings, a subsidiary of United Engineers, has won a S$54.6m ($43.59m) contract to build a used water lift station at the Jurong water reclamation plant located in Singapore.

The contract was awarded by Singapore’s national water agency PUB and requires the KBCE-UESH JV to design, procure, supply, construct, install, test and commission the used water lift station.

The contract is part of a scheme to extend the used water reticulation system to serve the Jurong Eastern Catchment and new developments in the Jurong Lake District.

Construction on the project will begin this month and is expected to be completed by September 2014.

Koh Brothers, a parent company of KBCE, was involved in the Jurong water reclamation plant phase III extension when it built the inlet lift station and modified the inlet works.

The extension added another 41,000m³ per day treatment capacity to the plant for used water.
