Nijhuis Water Technology acquires Excellent Ozone Solutions in Netherlands

The Netherlands-based industrial wastewater treatment company Nijhuis Water Technology has acquired Excellent Ozone Solutions to expand its product and services portfolio.

Excellent Ozone Solutions, which has its base in Eerbeek in the province of Gelderland, Netherlands, specialises in the use of ozone to treat cooling and processing water.

The ozone technology developed by Excellent Ozone prevents the growth of bacterium Legionella in cooling towers, and offers modern solutions to prevent odours.

The technology also allows reuse of industrial processing water and removes medicinal residues from waste water.

Nijhuis Water Technology chief executive officer Menno M Holterman said Excellent Ozone Solutions’ technology enables legislation to be met and provides considerable water savings.

"The recently introduced Q-System is one of the most accurate, safe, sustainable and energy-efficient in the world," Holterman said.

"This acquisition fits seamlessly with our strategy to expand our technology portfolio with break-through technologies, products and services.

"Many of our existing industrial customers are looking for affordable and sustainable solutions for disinfection and odour prevention in the purification of wastewater."

Excellent Ozone Solutions founder Greult de Haan said ozone technology is fast becoming an alternative to chemicals in preventing the growth of Legionella in open cooling tower systems.

"In recent years, our company has also developed a number of sustainable processes for the reuse of process water and removal of medicinal residues from waste water, which will be rolled out globally, together with Nijhuis Water Technology," Haan said.

Excellent Ozone Solutions will use Nijhuis’ worldwide sales and service network and work with its experts to develop new innovative concepts by capitalising on the combined expertise of both companies.
