Xylem to install biological wastewater treatment system in India

Water technology company Xylem has secured a contract from Essar Projects for the installation of its Sanitaire ICEAS biological treatment system at a wastewater treatment plant in Jamnagar, Gujarat.

Xylem will will also provide ongoing service and maintenance for the 70 million litres per day plant for the Jamnagar Municipal Corporation.

The treated wastewater will be reused for non-potable industrial purposes, providing a cheaper alternative to the region’s reliance on water from the Narmada River.

Essar Projects will design, build, operate and oversee the project, which is part of the integrated coastal zone management project financed by the World Bank.

Xylem India managing director H Bala said that the company is proud to be working with Essar Projects to install the wastewater treatment plant to help solve water issues in Jamnagar.
