Brazilian State to Invest $208m in Sanitation Improvements

The Brazilian state of Ceara is to invest R$348m ($208m) by the end of 2011 to improve its sanitation services.

The state will spend R$233m ($137.5m) on sewage treatment projects and R$89m ($52.5m) on water supply projects.

In addition, the state plans to allocate R$25.9m ($15m) to improve water supply and sewerage services.

A total of 26 municipalities will benefit from the allocation, with R$231m ($136m) allocated to state capital Fortaleza, according to bnamericas.com.
